News And Reviews 2018

Tuesday, May 8th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being a Ceremony of Passing. A 50 year certificate was presented to W.Bro. Tom Pearson by W.Bro. D.G. Webber, P.S.G.D. P.Assist. Prov. Grand Master. After the completion of the labours of the evening the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge and the remainder of the evening was spent in harmony at our Festive Board with our many visitors.


Tuesday, April 10th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being a Ceremony of Passing, and after the completion of the labours of the evening the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge and the remainder of the evening was spent in harmony at the Festive Board.

Tuesday, March 13th. The Installation Meeting of "Devon" Lodge was held at The Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot with a near capacity attendance. Among the many distinguished Brethren was Worshipful Bro. Christopher Yard, Assistant Provincial Grand Master and Presiding Officer. W. Bro. A. Carrah was Installed as Worshipful Master and appointed and invested his Officers. After completing the Labours of the Meeting the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Installation Banquet, complete with the formal Toasts and Responses plus the hearty rendition of the Master's song, was held at the Teignmouth Masonic Hall. A memorable occasion for our new Worshipful Master and all the Brethren.

Tuesday, February 13th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The Lodge was opened and closed in all Three Degrees with the explanations of the Working Tools. The R.W Provincial Grand Master made an unannounced visit to the lodge to present W.Bro Kit LeMarquand PPrJGW with the PGM’s Certificate of Service to Freemasonry. Read more.



After the completion of the annual business items the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge and the remainder of the evening was spent in harmony at the Festive Board.

Saturday, January 20th. At the Redcliffe Hotel, Paignton, a well attended Ladies' Festival with good food, jovial company and dancing until late. A most enjoyable evening with many happy memories.

News And Reviews 2017

Sunday, December 17th. The Annual Carol and Quiz Evening was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. A capacity attendance enjoyed an inspired rendition of favourite carols in the Temple with the usual interesting and humorous choices for vocals, duets and groups. Then to the refectory (just about enough space for us all) to experience this special social gathering. A marvellous buffet, an enhanced raffle and to conclude the fast moving quiz. Our Worshipful Master thanked Steve and all those who had contributed to this very successful and well attended evening.

Tuesday, December 12th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being a Ceremony of Initiation (our fourth in five meetings). After the completion of the labours of the evening the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge for a lively Festive Board at which our new Bro. was warmly welcomed.

Tuesday, November 14th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being a Ceremony of Initiation (our third in four meetings). After the completion of the labours of the evening the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge for a convivial Festive Board at which our new Bro. was warmly welcomed.

Tuesday, October 10th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being a Ceremony of Raising. After the completion of the labours of the evening the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge for usual joyful Festive Board.

Tuesday, September 12th. A well attended Regular Meeting, enhanced by the Fraternal Visit of Torbay Lodge, was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being another Ceremony of Initiation. After the completion of the labours of the evening the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Worshipful Master, Distinguished Brethren and Brethren then retired from the Lodge for a lively Festive Board at which our new Bro. was warmly welcomed.

Tuesday, March 14th. An excellent Installation Meeting of "Devon" Lodge was held at The Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot with a near capacity attendance. Among those present was The Provincial Grand Master Right Worshipful Bro. Ian Kingsbury who was accompanied by many Provincial Grand Officers. Assistant Provincial Grand Master Worshipful Bro. Christopher Yard was the Presiding Officer. W. Bro. S. A. L. Rowse was Installed as Worshipful Master and appointed and invested his Officers. After completing the Labours of the Meeting the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form. The Installation Banquet, complete with the formal Toasts and Responses plus the hearty renditions of the Master's and Visitors' songs, was held at the Teignmouth Masonic Hall. A memorable occasion for our new Worshipful Master and all the Brethren.

On March 9th W Bro Kit le Marquand, W. Master of "Devon" Lodge No.1138 presented a cheque for £1,000 to Debbie Shotton, fund coordinator for Rowcroft Hospice. The funds were raised at "Devon" Lodge Ladies' Festival in January.

Tuesday, February 14th. A Regular Meeting, Annual Business, was held at The Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot followed by an excellent Festive Board.

Thursday, February 2nd. A fraternal visit to Freemasons Hall, Bristol. Hosted by Chatterton Lodge No. 5386. An excellent and impressive Ceremony of Passing followed by a joyous Festive Board.

Saturday, January 14th. At the Redcliffe Hotel, Paignton, a well attended Ladies' Festival was much enjoyed, good food, jovial company and dancing until after midnight.

Tuesday, January 10th. A regular Meeting was held at the Masonic Hall, Newton Abbot. The main business being a Ceremony of Raising after which the usual joyful Festive Board ensued.
